Tutoring Services

The University of Arizona encourages tutoring support across its student body. It may be used by a student that is struggling to understand the material in a lecture class or by a student seeking to maintain a grade of “A” in fear of losing their 4.0 cumulative GPA. Tutoring is not a sign of lack of understanding, instead it is a sign of wanting to further engage with the academic content to better one’s own understanding of the material.

Think Tank

The Think Tank’s mission is to empower University of Arizona students by providing a positive environment where they can master the skills needed to become successful lifelong learners. The services offered vary from receiving academic coaching, academic skills workshops, receiving feedback on written papers, to studying for this week’s math examination or taking a preparation course to take the MCAT in preparation for applying to medical school. Just as services vary, so do the costs from FREE to by fee.

Writing Skills Improvement Program

The Writing Skills Improvement Program (WSIP) has a 40-year history of supporting students in their academic writing. Online and In-Person Tutoring is available, along with Online Workshops that are FREE for University of Arizona students.

SALT Center

The SALT (Strategic Alternative Learning Techniques) Center is a fee-based academic support program that inspires students with mild to moderate learning and attention challenges to succeed in higher education. Through the provision of comprehensive academic support services, the SALT Center encourages student engagement, self-awareness, and growth.

Costs

Tutoring can carry a fee and costs can add up. Don’t be afraid to ask about payment plans or whether scholarships may be available based on financial need.
