Counselors… and Educators

The American School Counselor Association recommends a student to counselor ratio of 250:1. The national average is 385:1. And Arizona unfortunately has the most challenging ratio of 667 students for every 1 counselor.

We should acknowledge this challenging statistic and appreciate counselors for the academic and career pathways that they open up with students. With such high caseloads of students, it is admirable the impact that counselors work to have both in providing college guidance in large group settings, as well as when possible working individually with students on their own personal academic and career goals. THANK YOU, COUNSELORS!!

Educators, administrators, college access professionals, community-based organizations and scholarship granting entities are welcome in helping Arizona students aspire, plan and eventually apply for higher education.

Early Identification and Support

Educators and counselors are instrumental in identifying students' strengths, interests, and academic potential from an early stage. By recognizing and nurturing these qualities, they can help students build a strong foundation for future college readiness.

Guidance and Mentorship

Providing guidance and mentorship throughout a student's academic journey is essential. Educators and counselors can offer advice on course selection, extracurricular activities, and opportunities for enrichment that align with students' college and career aspirations.

College Preparation Resources

Educators and counselors play a pivotal role in equipping students with the knowledge and resources needed to navigate the college application process. This includes information on standardized testing, financial aid options, scholarship opportunities, and college admissions requirements.

Advocacy and Support Systems

Building supportive relationships with students and their families fosters trust and encourages open communication about college planning. Educators and counselors can advocate for students' needs, provide encouragement during challenges, and celebrate their achievements along the way.
